Matt and I both lived in the same home our entire lives.
Well, Matt moved into his when he was 6 months old--I came home from the hospital to mine.
We both have many, many wonderful memories when we walk into the homes of our parents now. I can see me sitting in front of the wall space heater with a towel wrapped around me fresh out of the bath melting crayons on the heater--making rainbows of color. I can stand in the kitchen and remember when I stood there and threw up instead of going to the bathroom--only 3 steps away. I can see my sisters and I making cookies. I remember sitting on the counters talking to friends on the phone.........lots and lots of memories in the same old house. I love it!
We have given most of our children something different.
We are currently living in the 14th home since we got married. Yes, we have only been married 14 1/2 years. We have lived in this home for over 4 years now:) That's a record for us--and we don't see moving anytime in our near future. It's a little weird to think we might actually stay here until we are put in the ground.
Moving a lot has given us a lot of fun memories, just in different places. One of the best things that has come from it is the fact that we have so many wonderful, amazing, absolutely terrific friends in our lives. The only downfall to that is that I don't get to live by all of them anymore. I always tell Matt that the most perfect place to live would be in a little meadow surrounded by all my wonderful friends! We could all share a back yard full of toys and trees for the kids. It would be heaven for me--surrounded by so many people I love.
Today I am missing a lot of them--and thinking about our memories together.
Tara and her barbie shoe in the toilet mixed with poop--that she fished out and washed for her daughter--who almost instantly had it back in her mouth chewing on it.
Letitia who I have lived close to in Logan and Colorado:) Now she lives in Canada--crazy.
Audrie and her busy go, go, go life. Always willing to help me and anyone else--especially in talking us all into doing the food group:)
Jenny, who's baby Beckett got to come home from NICU today:)!!! Yeah!
Gretchen, who is like a sister to me in to many ways. Good times at the Gorge....
Sherry, who is another sister, always and forever. Always laid back and able to talk with me about anything.
Jen who's twin boys don't look a thing a like and still people can't tell them apart.
Amanda who is one of the only people who keeps up with the blog--I think
Tracy who always, always makes me laugh!
Jennie who has seen me go through every step of life.
I could go on and on.
I miss my sisters by blood also, all of them.
Tammy, Heidy, Karlinda, Juanita, Penny, Holly
& my brother--Walter
And especially my Mom and Dad.
It's a day for missing people I don't see very often.
So the kids and I made cookies:)
Sugar has a way of putting a smile on your face.
The boys kept asking what kind of cookies we should make.
I already had my mind made up.........
Because Sherry gave me the recipe.
She brought them the first time her family and my family got together to gather firewood for the cold winters in Bear Lake Idaho. I LOVE them---because they remind me of Sherry. And the boys even knew who Sherry is, "Oh! That's Hannah's mom." Yup. Sure is:)
Love and miss you all.
