Following are a few pictures of what I have been doing the past few days.
You will understand why there hasn't been much time to post, or even sleep, this past week........21 people sleeping at my home (for just a few hours each night--too busy to sleep much) & another 12+ coming and going at all hours.........
Matt, Duane, & DarrenLooking at a video Stacie took of the bridal shower for Suzanne.
Duane helped Stacey pick out the PERFECT gift for Suzanne....well, for Roger at least. Suzanne was red all over when she saw it.
Matt's reaction is from what I told him I said to Suzanne:)
You'll have to ask me personally what that was........lol
It's where the kids spent the majority of their Friday night. When we were cleaning them out after it was all over, there were chunks of fruit all over in them.
So, if you are planning a wedding, or any event for that matter, let me give you a little advice.
DON'T EVER USE A CHOCOLATE FOUNTAIN......NOT EVER!
Not only are they a pain to clean, a big pain, they are not even a little sanitary.
And, if that wasn't enough, they give you tons and tons of laundry you have to try and get chocolate out of. Took hours!--and a half a bottle of stain treatment.
Just remember that.
This was only half way through the night.
Ryan was the only boy who wasn't covered in chocolate by the end of the night.
Don't get me wrong, he had plenty on him, he just wasn't covered in it.
One of Suzanne's new bro's-in-law was in the kitchen complaining to me about some kid, who's mom wasn't keeping track of him at all, and how this kid got a drink and then dumbed it back into the punch bowl. I asked him to describe the kid to me (because I was pretty sure I knew who it was). His description, a little boy covered in chocolate. At this point Kevin walked up to me, and I asked if that was the boy. He turned as red as his tie and admitted it was :) I knew it was Kevin right when he told me what happened. I'm his mom--the one who can't keep track of her kids because she made the drink, cake, fixed the hair, told everyone where the decorations went, kept food in everyone's tummies, and tried in vain to sleep. And, just so you know, even if I hadn't done all those things, I still wouldn't be able to keep a leash on all of Kevin's doings:)
A quick snap of a few of the people there.
Decorating the car.....with some balloons I had in my purse, and some left over frosting from the cake. Jason put a balloon on the back rear tire, so when they drove off it popped......He was so happy his plan worked! :)
The cake.My biggest night mare.
Yes, I really made it.
Gayln helped with the ribbon.
Karlinda was there to give me pointers every time I called, and she let me borrow all her cake stuff.
Oh, and.....I will never make a wedding cake again.
Read on to learn why........
The top fell off. This is after Ty fixed it for me.
This wasn't a good night for me.
It was cry or laugh....so I took some advice from General Conference and laughed.
Even though it was really hard to do.
I laughed at myself, and yes, it felt a little better.
Now that it's been a few days, it's down right hilarious!
No one will ever ask me to make a wedding cake again:)
Sweet!
Friday morning I fixed Suzanne's hair for her and Matt gave her a blessing so she would calm down. He did that before I fixed her hair, so fixing her hair was lots of fun.
The temple was amazing, as always:)
Saturday we were supposed to go to Smithfield for the reception there.
A 5 hour drive.
We opted out, slept in, took naps, weeded the garden, and took the boys to Cars 2 at the theatre.
It was AWESOME!
Now, if someone could just send a maid my way--maybe 2 or 3, I can have my life back:)
