Last night was my date night:)
Matt and I went out to eat, we got a shake, burger, and fries at the Malt Shoppe---YUM.
So we went running again this morning--we missed yesterday--even though it snowed last night.
After we ate we went grocery shopping.
Yeah, I know, it's weird. But those are the kind of things we do now that we are married. And I love it. Shopping with kids isn't so fun, shopping with my hubby is great fun! We bought some groceries, including lots of pickles for our food storage. When we got home, I wanted to only make one trip in the house. So I loaded my arms as full as I could with bags--nothing out of the norm. I always do this when I get home from shopping. Well, I ended up dropping one bag--only one.
Of course, it had to be the one full of pickles.
Yup, you guessed it, pickles and pickle juice everywhere!
Ahhhhhhhh......
No one to be upset with but myself.
Two jars of pickles all over my kitchen.
At least I hadn't mopped the floor from the juice mess yet.
As Matt and I were cleaning the huge smelly mess up, I was reminded of the time when Ryan was barely 3. We had just moved to Bern Idaho. Matt had graduated from Utah State and got a job teaching at Bear Lake High School. We were gathered around our kitchen table, the was also our camping table (remember, we were fresh out of college with two kids and another on the way--fun times). We were having hamburgers for dinner. Ryan said the prayer on the food. He loved praying for everything back then--just like Kevin does today. He said, "Thank you for the ketchup, thank you for the hamburger buns, thank you for the hamburgers, and that, and that (these were the things he didn't know the names of), and thank you for the yucky pickles that I don't like, and thank you for....." I love memories like that! So, cleaning up the "yucky pickles" that Ryan still doesn't like wasn't so bad after all.
I also learned something from that prayer. I learned that we should be thankful for everything in our lives, even the challenges. Because they all have a purpose. We will learn and grow from everything in our lives, even our "yucky pickle" times:)
Happy St. Patricks Day!
I made the boys green crepes (which were only slightly colored because on Valentines Day the pink pancakes only feed the chickens while my boys stayed hungry because they were sure they tasted different). I did use a green egg from the chickens in the crepes though:) And a special school day treat of sausage to roll in the crepes--we usually don't have time to cook sausage on a school morning.
Jason dressed Kevin.Kevin added the 3D glasses from a movie we took the boys to a few weeks ago.
Wish me luck in talking him into changing......he is loving these too small clothes. I didn't even know we had these anymore. With the warmer weather, the boys have started digging through their shorts drawers and today Jason found these. Time to give them to Holly for Spencer, or maybe Juanita for Ammon or Enoc.
Too bad there's no green.
We're going tricky with the sideways pictures today:)Kevin, David, me, Jared all decked out in green (except Kev of course).
Jared changed into 3 different green shirts today.
This isn't the one he finally settled on.
He wore a long sleeved green camo shirt.
He's like me and doesn't like being cold at all.
Notice Jared's socks on my shoulders and David's fingers above my head:)
Matt with his green tie reading his scriptures:)He didn't want anyone to see his green, so he choose shorts with a green zipper.
I made him change--it snowed!
So we were tricky and got some green nail polish and painted a four leaf clover on his shoulder. So now he can have green, and no one will know until they are in trouble for pinching him:) He's so excited!
Ryan--wearing a shirt that he hates. I loved it and bought it for him last summer. He decided to save it for today:) He could have worn other green, but he told me it was the perfect shirt for St. Patricks day. At least he's wearing it once for me:)--and I didn't even have to ask.If you look really close you can see David hiding behind Ryan. Yeah, we had a crazy, fun morning.

I hate how on the ball and productive you are! You sure know how to make the rest of us feel really good about ourselves. Well, except me. I'm always on the ball. This morning after making a superb full course meal of HEALTHY green stuff that my ENTIRE family LOVED, I exercised (not that I really need to, I'm naturally healthy and fit)I dressed all of my children in perfectly matching outfits that I sewed myself and got the school aged ones to school in plenty of time to socialize with their friends for awhile before the bell. (My kids are NEVER the ones running in two minutes after the tardy bell with me sitting in the car with half dressed dirty boys in their night diapers with my boobs tucked into my pockets due to the lack of bra.) :)
ReplyDeleteOh man! I almost wet myself reading this!!!! Thanks for the laugh Juan:) I can't wait to see you this weekend and have you teach me how to clean my toilets and make all my kids clothes! Oh that we could all be as put together as you are.....Love you!
